Not every home is blessed with a separate study or dedicated home office, which has left the kitchen as a rather unconventional place to set up ‘shop’. But working next to the washing machine – is it really possible?

Expressing our personality is what turns a house into a home but what happens if you can’t decorate or find it hard to decide on a theme? You go the peel-it route, of course!

The widespread use of fridge-freezers, the evolution of fitted kitchen cabinetry and the introduction of integrated appliances conspired to almost kill off the pantry, but this storage nook has made a massive comeback of late.

Whether you’re working from home or just want to enliven your living space, you can’t go wrong with houseplants. Gone are the days when a solitary, unloved spider plant was the extent of indoor greenery as now, the health and aesthetic benefits of houseplants has led to a boom in the types and species available.

Like parents all over the country, we have entered the homeschooling zone once again, one full of frustration, confusion and, let’s be honest, a little chaotic at times. Around this we are trying to work, whilst mindful that we don’t want our children’s education to suffer as we stay in lockdown to protect ourselves from this dreadful pandemic.

We hope you and your family had a lovely Christmas, as different as it may have been this year.  It already seems like a distant memory! Now, as we head into 2021, at Maurice Kilbride we want to help ensure that you have a safe and secure start to your year.

Christmas will be a strange one this year, not just for us in Cheadle, but up and down the country, as we reflect on the worst year in most of our lifetimes.

Wow, what a year. When the fireworks crackled and lit up our skies with their colourful magic last New Year’s Eve and our hearts were filled with hopes and dreams of the year to come, none of us expected what was coming.
